The ultimate sailing course 14 day course, designed for the graduate of the Advanced Skipper with Coastal Navigation program or people of equivalent experience, will expand your experience by navigating some of the stronger current passes. This course touches lightly on the basics as a review and continues on to more advanced levels of anchoring, sail trim, use of a cruising chute, heavy weather tactics, cruise planning, navigation and night passages. Build your skills and confidence on this challenging program and includes the development of a watch system for an extended night passage, MOB drills at night, performance sail trim, spinnaker handling, and the use of electronic aids including many applications appropriate to offshore weather-window planning for navigation are but a few skills which will be covered on this extended cruise which will take you to wherever the wind blows.
Yachtmaster Offshore The holder is certified as the skipper and navigator, to be responsible for the safety of his/her sailing vessel and crew, while making offshore passages within 150 miles of the coastline, where navigational and weather hazards exist, in any conditions, at any time day or night. and covers the skills needed to be able to safely act as skipper and crew in a sailing cruiser on an offshore passage requiring celestial navigation. Knowledge of long-term passage planning, offshore vessel preparation, sail management, offshore first aid, watch-keeping, emergency procedures, abandon ship protocols, safety and seamanship. We offer passage making on the deliveries of our Catamarans and Mono-hulls to PNW through the panama Canal.
Prerequisites: Advanced Skipper, Coastal navigation, VHF radio certificate; First Aid Certificate; and CPR certification. Completing the Advanced Navigation Standard is highly recommended.

Offshore Standard - To be able to safely act as skipper and crew in a sailing cruiser on an offshore passage navigated by celestial and electronic means without visual reference to terrestrial objects.

Around Vancouver Island Advanced YachtMaster
14 day circumnavigation of Vancouver Island
Join us for an exciting ASA 106 YachtMaster Offshore Cruise 'N Learn Around Vancouver Island. The first leg of this voyage will take you from Sidney to the northern tip of Vancouver Island to Port Hardy through a maze of islands with tidal currents running up to 15 knots. Occasional stops will be made in remote anchorages. The second leg will introduce students to a taste of some serious open ocean sailing with occasional landfalls as we make our way back to Sidney via the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
